the least effects on the children. New attitudes about children and divorce's
effects are needed: Oddenino provides these insights, juxtaposing case history
examples of parent interactions and experiences with the legal system with
keys to therapies which help heal the entire family. The author is an attorney

Parenting at a Distance
Staying in touch with the children who live in your heart but not in your home. As a bipolar mother I will never have custody of my children. That is the
hardest thing I had to accept. Parenting at a Distance helps me send them
activities that will help them remember me with some happy memories. I am
getting better and they are getting older. Some day there will be an opportunity
for us to sit together. I will tell them how much joy I found in putting
together their projects and I hope they will be able to tell me how much they
enjoyed my efforts. Really a good book. Meghan Morris --Letter to the publisher
Parenting at a Distance, has been a great resource for me. At first the mother
of my son didn't want to help me communicate with the kids. The fact that I had
a plan for contact with them and was consistent won her over. I think she gets
as much a kick out of the seeing what will be in the next package as the boys
do. Ken Richards --Weekend Fathers Newsletter.

Victims of Child
Abuse Laws
VOCAL is a child advocacy and family rights organization that
provides information, research data, emotional support, and an "experts"
referral service for family members who are victims of abuse or have been
abused by "system professionals". As a non-profit corporation run by unpaid
volunteers and is supported by donations from its members and other concerned
citizens. A group of caring, responsible parents who have been victimized
by child abuse laws that enable "system professionals" to ignore the Constitutional
rights of American citizens. We are doctors, lawyers, ministers, laymen and
"Pro-Family" politicians who Value Our Children and Laws, and are dedicated
to changing laws which enable "system professionals" to violate the Constitutional
rights of American citizens. We are against those who victimize children and
adults by making anonymous, malicious and false allegations of child abuse.
VOCAL is against removing children from a home without court order because
mental, physical and sexual abuse often occurs in foster care homes. VOCAL
is against individuals who abuse their positions of authority and cause irreparable
damage to families based on hearsay allegations. VOCAL is for higher standards
of education for HRS caseworkers, Child Protection Team Members, and Guardian-Ad-Litem
volunteers. VOCAL is for working with other pro-family organizations and
encourages the active pursuit of common goals. VOCAL believes the family
is the foundation of society, and any activity which weakens families is
a threat to our entire society. Strengthening family unity makes for a stronger
America.

Encounter
Marriage Encounter, is a weekend away from home,
family and responsibilities where in a comfortable, secluded environment a
couple is guided in the discovery of new techniques of communicating and sharing
with one another. It is not a retreat, but it is a program designed to give
couples the opportunity to examine their lives together, their weaknesses
and strong points, their attitudes toward each other and toward their families.
Couples are given the opportunity to look at themselves, privately with their
partner in an honest, face-to-face, heart-to-heart encounter.
Engaged Encounter, is a weekend experience designed
to help couples prepare personally and as a couple for marriage. The focus
is on the marriage, not on the wedding. "A wedding is a day ... a marriage
is a lifetime." Couples are shown communication and decision-making techniques
they can use throughout their lifetime together. Engaged Encounter is specifically
designed for quiet reflection and discussion by each couple. It is a positive,
simple, common-sense experience between two people who are either seriously
considering engagement, engaged or recently married. A no time will the couple
be asked to share their private experiences with the group.
Non-Custodial Parents of Ohio
This purpose of this organization is to give our children
access to both parents and all extended family. If you are denied access to
your child, grandchild, niece or nephew, then you have a vested interest in
changing current laws, your help would be appreciated.
1. The phrase "the best interest of the child" is the most overused, meaningless
phrase in our courts.
2. Our legislatures and courts only care that the custodial parent receives
money and nothing else is relevant to the child's happiness.
3. County prosecutors are only interested in child support violations, not
visitation violations.
4. The courts do not enforce visitation orders.
5. You have been denied access to your child, grandchild, etc. as a result
of divorce.
6. Non-custodial parents have more to contribute to their child's life than
just money.
7. County CSEA offices have a different set of rules for custodial vs. non-custodial
parents.
8. Your child, grandchild, ect. has been used as a weapon against you.

lawyer programs. Pro bono programs are operated by state, county or local
bar associations; by legal services programs; by other agencies in the community
or independently. They use local attorneys who have agreed to provide free
legal representation to eligible persons referred by the pro bono program.
There are tens of thousands of attorneys throughout the country who volunteer
their services through these programs.
